Prices by customer group or season
Let every signed-in customer see and pay their own price: by group, season or quantity.
When it helps
A price often depends on more than the goods. A restaurant pays a different price than a shop, summer differs from winter, a night rate is higher. Instead of a copy of the catalogue for each group, you keep one catalogue and a price list next to it: a row says what the goods cost for which group.
The customer has to sign in to the app, and their record in the customer list has to carry the group they belong to (for example VIP or Standard). From the sign-in the app knows which price to show.
How it works
The catalogue shows the customer’s price
A signed-in customer sees the price of their group in the catalogue. When the price list has nothing for the goods, they see the base price of the goods. A customer with no group sees the base price too.
The order is stored at the same price
The server fills the price into the order. The customer cannot send or change it, so they cannot pick a cheaper group.
A contradiction in the list is not guessed
When the price list has two rows for one item and one group, the order is refused and the catalogue shows the base price. Fix the list; nobody gets a silent discount.
Ask your assistant
Say what makes the price differ and where your customers are kept. For seasonal prices say from when to when a price list row applies.
In my app [name or address] I want prices by customer group. Add a price list with the columns goods, group and price. A signed-in customer should see the price of their group in the catalogue, or the base price of the goods when the list has nothing. The order should store the same price and the customer must not be able to influence it. Take the customer’s group from their record that belongs to their sign-in.
Add the columns valid from and valid to to the price list. The customer should see and pay only the price that applies today.
When a price is wrong
The catalogue shows the base price although I have a price list
Check that the customer is signed in and that their record carries the group exactly as it is written in the price list. A different letter case or an extra space is enough for the row not to be found.
An order is refused and mentions the price list
The price list has two rows for the same goods and the same group, so the app does not guess the price. Delete or fix one of them.
The price in the order differs from the catalogue
Tell your assistant the app name and the time of the order. In a dispute the price from the list at the moment the order was stored applies. Changing the list later does not change orders already stored.
What next
The price list settles the price of goods. A deposit and a balance, a summary invoice and credit are separate and can be combined with it.
