For app owners

Update an existing app

Ask your assistant for a change, review the preview and publish it. Restore an earlier version if needed.

Before you start

Use an assistant connected to the same Vibee account. Give the existing app name or address so it updates that app instead of creating another. Before a large change, download an export and agree on a suitable time with your team.

How to download the app and its data

Make a change step by step

  1. Describe a concrete outcome

Name the page, who the change is for and an example task. One small change is easier to check than several different requests at once.

  2. Ask to preserve data

When adding a field or overview, explicitly ask to keep existing data. Removing a field, table or records has a different effect from changing the appearance.

  3. Review the text and layout preview

For text and layout edits, ask for a preview. Check changed pages and details with real data. Choose Publish after reviewing them. Record data cannot be changed in the preview.

  4. Test the whole workflow

After completion, open the app, check existing data and try adding and editing a test record. For a team app, also check the result with a colleague’s access.

Add a due date
Update my Servis Novák app, do not create a new one. Add a completion due date to jobs and an overdue filter. Keep all existing data and permissions. Tell me what to test after the change.

Which changes use a preview

Prepare text and layout edits to an existing app in a preview and publish them later. Discuss changes to what and how the app stores data, permissions or automated messages separately. They may affect the live app directly. Check saving with a test record in the live app.

Review the design first
In my Newman Repairs app, make the job detail text and layout clearer. Keep all data, features and permissions. Prepare a preview and do not publish anything yet.
How to use the previewHow to prepare forms for your team

Restore an earlier version

Ask your assistant to show version history and describe the differences. Choose and confirm a specific version to restore. It restores the name, app design and functions; table data, files, users and the custom domain do not return to their earlier state.

Restoring creates a new version itself. It is not a way to recover deleted records. Removing functions can also remove their related connections.

Choose a version before restoring
Show me this app’s recent versions and explain what changed. Do not restore anything yet. I want to choose the version before the last form change.

If saving fails after a change

Give your assistant the exact page, action and error code. Do not repeat data changes blindly.
